Everything You Need to Know About Mustang Baseball: From Registration to Game Day, We’ve Got You Covered!

General Questions

When does registration open?
Registration opens in December each year. For 2025, the deadline is March 9, to ensure jerseys are ready for the first game. You can register your player here

Do we have to attend in-person registration?

Yes, in-person registration is mandatory, but it should only take about 15 minutes to complete. This ensures proper uniform fitting for each player. During registration, you’ll also:

  • Submit your DIBs checks
  • Provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate
  • Learn more about travel baseball
  • Have an opportunity to ask the board any questions

You only need to attend one session, either:

  • Sunday, February 2nd: 3:00–4:30 PM
  • Monday, February 3rd: 5:00–6:30 PM

Location: Dickinson Middle School Main Entrance
Note: In-person attendance is required even if you’ve completed online registration, so we recommend completing it beforehand to save time. Late registrations will depend on space availability.

Why do you need a copy of my child’s birth certificate?

Birth certificates are required to verify age eligibility, ensure fair play, and comply with Cal Ripken Babe Ruth Baseball league rules.

Practice and Games

When does the season start?

Practices begin in April as soon as the snow melts, with league games starting the last week of April.

What is the schedule for games?

Games are held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, with makeup games scheduled for Wednesdays depending on field availability.

When is the season-ending tournament?

The tournament takes place during the last week of June, with teams guaranteed two games but possibly playing up to four.

Equipment

What does registration include?

Your child will receive a league jersey and baseball cap.

What color pants should I get?

Players should wear grey baseball pants to match the team uniform.
What size glove should my child use?

  • Ages 4–7: 9–11 inches
  • Ages 8–12: 10–12 inches
  • Infielders: Smaller, flexible gloves (9–11.5 inches)
  • Outfielders: Larger gloves (11–12.5 inches)

It's also a good idea to let your child try on gloves to find one that feels comfortable and matches their skill level.

Do I need to buy a bat for my child?

No, each team is equipped with one bat. If you choose to purchase one, it must be USA Bat-certified. For more information visit our baseball bat page

What size bat does my child need?

The best size depends on your child’s height and weight. Check out the Bat Sizing Chart.

Parent Involvement

What are DIBs?

DIBs are volunteer credits families must complete to support the league. Each family is required to complete 2 DIBs credits (4 for Travel Baseball families) during the season. Travel Baseball families are required to complete the 2 DIBs credits at the annual travel Badlands Battle of the Bat Tournament. For more information our DIBs & Concessions page

How much are DIBs?

At the start of the season, families are required to provide a $400 DIBs work deposit check and a $50 no-show check. These checks will only be cashed if the required DIBs volunteer credits are not completed by the end of the season. If families do not fulfill their DIBs obligations, the $400 work deposit and $50 no-show fee will be forfeited.

What happens if I miss a DIBs shift?

A $50 no-show fee will be charged. You will be required to make up your shift, failure to fulfill the requirement may result in forfeiture of your $400 work deposit.

How can I help as a parent?

The first opportunity is to volunteer as a coach. If coaching isn’t for you, there will be plenty of other ways to contribute throughout the season. Families can fulfill their DIBs obligations by volunteering for concessions, assisting with field maintenance, helping with fundraising, and more. These opportunities will be shared as the season progresses.
